Rhode Island is the smallest state in the U.S. but it’s got a lot to offer traveling healthcare professionals. Rhode Island is sometimes called the ‘Ocean State’ because no matter where you are in RI, you are never more than 30 minutes from the ocean. Rhode Island has a beautiful coast with sandy beaches and rocky cliffs, historic sites to see, and lots of cultural and recreational activities too.
Like much of New England, Rhode Island has natural beauty and history. Newport has long sandy beaches and lighthouses, incredible mansions that were built by the super-rich in the first half of the 20th century, vineyards, art fairs, and music festivals. Watch a polo match in Portsmouth then take the Cliff Walk above the rocky coves of Newport.
Explore Rhode Island’s pristine beauty on Block Island. Leave your car on the mainland and hop on the ferry at Point Judith. On Block Island, you can rent a moped to ride along the beautiful bluffs and beaches.
Providence, Rhode Island’s major metropolitan area, has an incredible riverwalk downtown that is home to the popular WaterFire art celebrations. On the edge of town is the Victorian-era Roger Williams Park, with the zoo, carousel, historic casino building, lakes, and museum. Providence is also home to a major culinary school and many graduates have stayed local and helped develop some incredible dining experiences.
No matter what you desire, you are sure to find it in beautiful Rhode Island!
